Spanish

Vision

At Reevy Hill our vision for Spanish is to encourage curiosity and a deeper understanding of languages and the wider world, whilst developing the communication skills and self-confidence of our pupils.

Our Spanish curriculum is taught using Primary Languages Network as the basis for our planning. The planned progression built into the scheme of work ensures that pupils build upon prior knowledge and are increasingly challenged as they move through KS2. Each topic has specific vocabulary that pupils will know and remember, to enable them to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond effectively, both in speech and in writing.

Learning Spanish is seen as an important part of our pupils’ education as we want our children to be inquisitive about the world in which we live and work and to develop a sense of global citizenship, learning to appreciate different countries, cultures and communities.

Key Concepts

Key concepts which are the 'big ideas' are weaved throughout our Curriculum. Children will learn and revisit these key concepts as they progress through school to allow them to build a rich and deep knowledge of the big ideas in each subject.
