Good Morning, we hope you have all had a lovely half term break! This week in Maths we will set an activity each day to develop number, counting and addition skills and understanding. We hope that you will enjoy these activities; please email us on to show us how you got on!

Take care,

Mrs Metcalfe and Miss Gibson x

Today's activity is called Handy Sums and is an addition activity to play with your child. Before you begin the activity, please remind your child of the addition sign below:

Ask them if they can tell you what it says, and what we do when we are adding. They will most likely say that we count everything altogether, which is what they will need to do during the activity!

When you create your finger addition sentences, you can ask your child to write them down or ask them to tell you how to write it down. The important thing is that they understand that we start with two separate amounts and by adding them together we end up with more, rather than their ability to write every sum down.
